Alan Villanueva
Military Fellow
Major Alan Villanueva brings over two decades of military acquisition expertise and operational experience to dual-use technology investments. He currently serves as Moonshots Capital's Defense Military Fellow through the Army's Training With Industry program, connecting Department of Defense requirements with technology solutions.
Originally from Guam, Alan enlisted in 2001 and earned his commission through the University of Guam ROTC program after completing his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He has commanded at the company level and deployed three times in support of operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East, earning the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and multiple distinguished service awards.
In 2020, Alan transitioned to the Army Acquisitions Corps after graduating from the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Science in Systems Engineering Management. As a certified Contracting Professional and graduate of the Naval War College's Joint Professional Military Education program, he helps portfolio companies navigate defense procurement processes and understand government customer needs.
Alan's operational military experience combined with his acquisition expertise helps dual-use startups work effectively with the defense innovation and government contracting landscape.
